Calculators For Africa
The One Dollar for Life club, which raises funds for international projects, and the Pi Club hope to collect 300 calculators for two schools. Last year, students at Los Altos and Gunn high schools sent 452 bicycles to Africa -- at a cost of about $10,000 for shipping. This year, teacher Robert Freeman said, students tried to come up with an item that would be less expensive to send. Donors may take calculators in good condition to the school's attendance office, at 201 Almond Ave., Los Altos, by Friday. Solar-powered calculators are especially needed, Freeman said. The students will box and ship them to Africa on Dec. 20, 2008. SupportEducation.com is helping in this effort by donating 50 new solar powered calculators with optional battery usage (battery included). © 2006-2009 SupportEducation.com All Rights Reserved.
